Dear Delegate,
On behalf of organizing committee, Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore and Department of Materials Engineering of the Institute, we welcome you to CREEP 2024. This is the first time this prestigious, over 40-years old international conference is going to be organized in India, and we aim to ensure an excellent experience to you. We are expecting to host more than 250 delegates, with more than 150 international delegates. Besides plenary talks, the conference will have 3 parallel sessions, a poster session and a session dedicated to discussing the challenging issues in high temperature deformation that will keep young researchers attracted to this field for next two decades. In the spirit of previous CREEP conferences, there will be ample time for the talk, discussions following a talk during and after the session. To encourage the students and young researchers, we plan to select up to 6 posters for various awards.
We will take a break from the technical program in the middle of the conference – i.e., on 3rd day, to take a tour of nearby historical places and for discussions to initiate and build collaborations as well as socialization. We are aware of the diversity of the delegates, and we have considered it while planning for food, sightseeing, accommodation, etc. We will also organize cultural programs filled with classical dances and music of India. We will also prepare an engaging plan for the accompanying person.
Besides attending the conference, we also extend an invitation to visit various labs at our Institute (www.iisc.ac.in) and the department (https://materials.iisc.ac.in/). Our Institute, established in 1909, is one of the Institutes of Eminence (IoE) in India, and houses excellent facilities for fabrication, characterization, testing and computation. IISc currently ranks first in the country in terms of research output, citations, and research spending. In particular, our department, established in 1945, has a graduate student population of over 150, traditionally had strengths in the areas of mechanical behaviour of materials and the present profiles of the faculty reflects this.
At both the Institute and the Department levels, we are excited about hosting you in Bangalore for the CREEP 2024. End of July-early August is quite pleasant in Bangalore - with an excellent mix of Monsoon rains, Sun, comfortable temperatures and lush greenery. We look forward to welcoming you!
Sincerely,
Praveen Kumar (Chair, CREEP Conference)
